Description
The 49th Madaraka Day was celebrated on June 1, 2012, with President Mwai Kibaki calling for a smooth electoral transition while warning that the upcoming elections would not be easy. He urged aspirants to conduct peaceful campaigns. Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta accompanied President Kibaki during the garden party.
